Toncontín International Airport is the main airport serving Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras, and the surrounding Francisco Morazán region. Opened in 1934, it is one of the oldest operating airports in Central America and has long functioned as the capital's principal air gateway.
Located about 6 km south of central Tegucigalpa, the airport has a single terminal and one runway set in a mountainous area, which is known for its distinctive and demanding approach. Since December 2021, scheduled international commercial flights have largely operated from the newer Palmerola International Airport near Comayagua, while Toncontín continues to serve domestic routes connecting the capital with cities such as La Ceiba, Roatán and San Pedro Sula.
