About Tenerife South Airport
Tenerife South Airport is the main international airport serving Tenerife and the largest gateway to the island's southern resorts. Inaugurated in 1978 and also known as Reina Sofía Airport, it has grown into the second busiest airport in the Canary Islands and a key entry point for visitors to the archipelago.
Located in Granadilla de Abona in the south of Tenerife, the airport sits close to popular holiday areas such as Playa de las Américas, Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje. It operates a single passenger terminal and handles domestic, inter-island and international flights, while Tenerife North Airport serves much of the island's domestic traffic.
The airport lies alongside the TF-1 motorway and is connected to the rest of the island by public buses, taxis, private transfers, car rental and road links. Santa Cruz de Tenerife is roughly 60 km to the north, while the main southern resorts are only a short drive away.
