About Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna Airport
Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna Airport is the main gateway for the north of Tenerife and one of two airports serving the island. Located in the municipality of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, it connects travellers with Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the island's capital, as well as Puerto de la Cruz and other northern destinations.
The airport opened to traffic in 1941 and was officially inaugurated in 1946, originally under the name Los Rodeos. Its current multi-level passenger terminal came into operation in 2002, providing modern facilities for check-in, boarding, arrivals and passenger services.
Tenerife Norte is especially important for inter-island flights within the Canary Islands and for scheduled domestic routes to mainland Spain. It sits about 11 km by road from central Santa Cruz de Tenerife and is well connected to the island via the TF-5 motorway.
