About Taraz International Airport
Taraz International Airport serves the city of Taraz and the Zhambyl region in southern Kazakhstan. Established in 1974, the airport has been operated as Aulie-Ata International Airport and has grown into a key air gateway for the area.
The airport is located about 8–9 km southwest of central Taraz and connects the region with domestic routes such as Astana and Almaty, as well as international and cargo services. Its single runway, modernized in 2013, is 3,500 metres long and can accommodate large commercial aircraft.
A new passenger terminal opened in 2015, providing check-in counters, a departure and arrivals hall, transit areas and passenger amenities including dining, shopping and a duty-free area.
Buses, taxis and private transfers link the airport with Taraz and nearby destinations, making onward travel across the region relatively straightforward.
