Tangará da Serra Airport, also known as Joaquim Aderaldo de Souza Municipal Airport, is the main airfield serving the municipality of Tangará da Serra in western Mato Grosso. The site was established in 1977, shortly after municipal emancipation, and project records date the current facility's inauguration to December 1999.
Located about 8 km from the city centre, the airport has a single asphalt runway measuring 1,500 m by 30 m and operates primarily as a general aviation facility. As of late 2025, it has no regular commercial flights and is used mainly by private aircraft and a flight school.
The airport is equipped with night runway lighting, a rotating beacon, hangar space and a fuel supply point. Planned modernization and runway improvement works aim to increase operational safety and support future regional air services.
Road access links the airport with Tangará da Serra and regional routes toward Cuiabá, which lies about 240 km away, making the airport a local gateway for western Mato Grosso.
