Takamatsu Airport (TAK)

Takamatsu Airport is the main airport serving the city of Takamatsu and Kagawa Prefecture, acting as an air gateway to Shikoku island in western Japan. It handles domestic flights and a smaller number of international services, connecting the region with major cities in Japan and selected overseas destinations.

The airport opened in 1958 and later moved to its current site, where a new runway and terminal building entered service in 1991; it was renamed Takamatsu Airport in 1992. Today a single passenger terminal handles both domestic and international flights, keeping arrivals, check-in and onward travel within a compact, easy-to-navigate building.

Located about 15 km south-southwest of central Takamatsu, the airport is reached by limousine bus, taxi, private transfer and road. Buses link the terminal with JR Takamatsu Station and other points in Kagawa Prefecture, while rental cars and chauffeur services provide flexible onward travel.

Passengers can use restaurants, cafés, shops, a lounge, Wi-Fi and other services before departure or after arrival, making the airport a practical gateway for visitors exploring Takamatsu, the Setouchi area and Shikoku.
