About Tak Airport
Tak Airport is a public regional airport serving Tak town and the surrounding Tak Province in northern Thailand. It opened on 31 May 1977 and is operated by the Department of Airports, supporting general, government, charter and private aviation in the province.
The airport has a single runway, designated 09/27, measuring 1,500 metres in length, and limited terminal infrastructure. Between November 1990 and March 1994 it was served by Thai Airways International, but no scheduled airline service has operated since then and the airfield is now used mainly for occasional and specialist flights.
Located in Nam Ruem, Mueang Tak district, roughly 14-15 kilometres east of Tak city centre, the airport is reached by road and private transport. Tak town and the wider province provide onward access toward Mae Sot and the Thai-Myanmar border region.
For travelers, the airport is best treated as a limited-access regional airfield. Hotels, restaurants and other passenger services are available in Tak town, and onward journeys are typically made by private car or pre-arranged transfer.
