About Udon Thani International Airport
Udon Thani International Airport is the main air gateway to Udon Thani and the Isan region of northeastern Thailand. Originally opened in 1932 as a military airfield and later used as Udorn Royal Thai Air Force Base, the airport has developed into a key domestic hub and was upgraded to international status ahead of the 2026 horticultural expo.
Located about 3 km southwest of central Udon Thani in the Nong Khon Kwang subdistrict, the airport serves domestic routes and emerging international services. It has two passenger terminal buildings and a 3,048-metre runway, with Terminal B upgraded to provide customs, immigration and quarantine facilities.
The airport's short distance from the city centre makes it convenient for travelers heading to hotels, business districts and onward destinations across Isan. Taxis, private transfers, rental cars and other ground transport options connect the terminals with Udon Thani and nearby areas.
