About Sunan Shuofang International Airport
Sunan Shuofang International Airport is the main airport serving Wuxi and the nearby city of Suzhou in southern Jiangsu. Located in Xinwu District, it provides domestic connections across China and a smaller network of international services to destinations in Asia and beyond.
The site was established as a military airfield in 1955 and later became a civil-military joint-use airport, with scheduled commercial flights beginning in 2004. Terminal 1 opened in 2007, and Terminal 2, used for domestic flights, opened in 2015.
Situated about 16 km from central Wuxi and roughly 20 km from Suzhou, the airport is connected to Wuxi by Metro Line 3, airport buses, taxis and private transfers, with road and rail links continuing toward Suzhou, Shanghai and other Yangtze River Delta destinations.
Its two linked terminals house check-in counters, security screening, baggage claim, shops, dining, lounges and onward travel services, keeping the passenger journey straightforward for a mid-sized regional gateway.
