About Sucúa Airport
Sucúa Airport is a small former regional airfield located near the town of Sucúa in Morona-Santiago Province, in Ecuador's eastern Amazon region. For much of its history it provided a domestic air connection for Sucúa and the surrounding canton, serving light aircraft and limited regional flights.
The airport sits about 3 km southeast of central Sucúa at an elevation of roughly 950 m above sea level. Its single asphalt runway measures approximately 1,270 m in length and was suited to daylight operations by smaller aircraft rather than large commercial jets.
In recent years, scheduled air traffic for the area has been consolidated at Coronel Edmundo Carvajal Airport in Macas, around 20 km northeast of Sucúa. Sucúa Airport closed in the late 2010s, and its former runway area has since been redeveloped as the Parque Lineal de Sucúa.
Today, travelers moving through the Sucúa and Macas area rely mainly on road transport. Taxis, private transfers, chauffeur services and rental cars connect Sucúa with Macas and other destinations across Morona-Santiago Province.
