About Saint-François Airport

Saint-François Airport is a small civil aerodrome serving Saint-François and the southeastern tip of Grande-Terre in Guadeloupe. Known officially as the Amédée-Huyghues-Despointes aerodrome, it focuses mainly on general aviation, recreational flying, flight training and light aircraft operations rather than large scheduled airline traffic.

Located about 1.2 km northeast of Saint-François and close to the municipal golf course, the airport has a single asphalt runway of approximately 600 metres and a compact passenger terminal. Its position near the Pointe des Châteaux coastline makes it a practical base for scenic flights over the island and short hops to nearby islands such as La Désirade, Marie-Galante and Les Saintes.

The airport is roughly a 30–40 km drive from Pointe-à-Pitre, where Guadeloupe's main international airport and onward flight connections are located. Road access links the aerodrome to Saint-François town and the surrounding coastal areas, with taxis, private transfers and rental cars available for continuing a journey.

Facilities on site include the Saint-François Caraïbes flying club, a briefing room, a flight simulator and an aircraft maintenance workshop. Although passenger amenities are limited, the aerodrome's compact layout makes it a convenient gateway for private aviation and island travel in eastern Guadeloupe.
