Shihezi Huayuan Airport (SHF)

Shihezi Huayuan Airport is the main airport serving Shihezi, a city in the northern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It opened in December 2015 and is the first civil regional airport built by the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, supporting domestic air travel across the region. The airport has a 4C-class runway of 2,800 metres, a single passenger terminal of around 3,600 square metres, and a civil apron with several aircraft stands alongside a larger general aviation apron. Scheduled services are domestic, connecting Shihezi with destinations across Xinjiang and other parts of China, including Kashgar, Yining, Aksu, Beijing, Chengdu and Xi'an. Located about 12 km southwest of central Shihezi, the airport is reachable by taxi, the airport shuttle bus to the city's passenger waiting hall, and city bus route 17, with road access to the city centre and surrounding areas. The compact single-terminal layout keeps check-in, security and arrivals close together, and basic passenger facilities serve both leisure and business travellers. The airport also acts as a backup option for flights serving nearby Urumqi.
