Shanshan Airport is a public airport serving Shanshan County, also known as Piqan, in the Turpan basin of Xinjiang. Originally built in 1969 as a military airfield, it later became a reserve aviation facility and now supports mainly local and general aviation operations.
Located about 7 km northeast of the county centre, the airport has a single concrete runway of approximately 2,500 metres and a compact passenger terminal. Scheduled airline service is limited, so most travelers in the area rely on Turpan Jiaohe Airport for regular flights.
