About Shannan Longzi Airport
Shannan Longzi Airport is a high-altitude domestic airport serving Shannan in the Tibet Autonomous Region. It operates as a dual-use military and civilian airport in a valley setting, about 11 km from the seat of Longzi County and roughly 106 km from Shannan's urban centre in Tsetang.
The airport sits at an elevation of approximately 3,950 metres and has a single passenger terminal of about 4,080 square metres. Its 4,500-metre runway supports regional domestic operations, and the facility received its first flight on 12 January 2023.
Because of its remote mountain location, most onward journeys are made by road. Travelers can continue to Longzi County town, Tsetang and other parts of the Shannan region by taxi, private transfer, rental car or arranged group transport.
As a relatively new regional gateway, the airport helps improve access to southern Tibet and links the local area with domestic destinations.
