About Shache Yarkant Airport
Shache Yarkant Airport serves Shache (Yarkant) and surrounding parts of Kashgar Prefecture in far western Xinjiang. Opened on 1 August 2017 as the 19th civil airport in Xinjiang, it provides domestic air connections between southern Xinjiang and other cities in the region.
The airport is located about 21 km from the Shache county centre, near Zirepuxiati Township. It has a 4C-rated runway of 3,000 metres and a single terminal building, with aircraft stands able to handle narrow-body domestic flights. Scheduled flights link Shache with Urumqi, Hotan, Korla, Kashgar and other domestic destinations.
Ground transport includes a shuttle bus running to Shache Railway Station in line with flight schedules, as well as taxis and private transfers, making it possible to continue to the town centre and nearby areas.
Although compact, the airport plays an important role in connecting Shache and the Yarkant area with Xinjiang's wider transport network for local residents, business travellers and visitors.
