About Sevastopol International Airport
Sevastopol International Airport, commonly known as Belbek Air Base, is a joint civil and military airfield located north of Sevastopol on Crimea's southwestern Black Sea coast. Commissioned as a military airfield in 1941, it has combined military operations with a civil aviation sector and has served as the city's air gateway during periods when civilian flights operated.
The airfield lies about 9 km north of the Sevastopol city centre, near Lyubimovka in the Nakhimovsky district. Its single concrete runway is around 3,000 metres long, and the compact civil terminal has historically served airline and charter passengers.
Civil aviation at Belbek has been intermittent: international flight licensing was granted in December 2002, and civilian services operated from 2002 to 2007 before being suspended. Today the site functions primarily as a military air base, with limited or no scheduled commercial flights.
Road access connects the airport to Sevastopol and other parts of Crimea, and onward travel is typically arranged by private transfer, taxi or car. The airport remains a regional reference point for journeys to the city centre, Balaklava and the surrounding Black Sea coast.
