About Savonlinna Airport
Savonlinna Airport is a small regional airport serving the town of Savonlinna and the surrounding South Savo region in eastern Finland. It opened in 1974 and has been part of Finavia's airport network since 1980, mainly supporting domestic connections, seasonal charter flights and travel linked to the annual Savonlinna Opera Festival.
Located about 13 kilometres north of the city centre, the airport has a single terminal building with two gates and a waiting area. The terminal was renovated in 1995, when departure and arrival areas were separated and baggage handling was improved, and the runway and apron were renewed in 2022.
The airport provides a café, free Wi-Fi and parking, and connects to Savonlinna by taxi, car rental and a regular bus transfer. From here, travellers can continue to the city centre, the Saimaa lake district, Enonkoski, Punkaharju and other destinations in the region.
