Sanya Phoenix International Airport is the main gateway to Sanya, a major coastal resort city on the southern tip of Hainan Island. Opened in 1994, the airport serves both domestic and international flights and plays a central role in connecting travellers with the island's beaches, resorts and tourism destinations.
The airport operates passenger services through Terminals 1, 2 and 3 for domestic flights and a dedicated International Terminal for international travel, with a separate VIP terminal nearby. Terminal 3 opened in February 2026, adding modern capacity to the airport complex.
Located about 11 km northwest of downtown Sanya, the airport is connected to the city and surrounding areas by airport bus lines to downtown, Yalong Bay and Haitang Bay, taxis, ride-hailing, private transfers and high-speed rail from Phoenix Airport Railway Station.
