About Ruoqiang Loulan Airport
Ruoqiang Loulan Airport is the regional airport serving Ruoqiang County in the Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture of China's Xinjiang region. Opened in March 2018, it ended the county's history without a civil aviation airport and brought scheduled domestic flights to a remote area of southeastern Xinjiang.
The airport is a 4C-class domestic feeder airport located about 15 km west of the Ruoqiang county centre, near Wutamu Township. Its single passenger terminal of about 6,400 square metres handles regional routes linking Ruoqiang with Urumqi, Korla, Qiemo and Zhengzhou.
Ground access relies mainly on taxis, which operate from the arrivals area and provide the most direct connection to the county town; there is no regular airport shuttle bus or city bus service. The location also makes the airport a practical entry point for travellers heading to the Loulan ancient city, Lop Nur and the Altun Mountains.
Facilities are compact but include a waiting area and a first and business class lounge with rest areas and charging points. As a small regional airport, it focuses on efficient handling of domestic flights rather than large-scale shopping and dining.
