Rumbek Airport (RBX)

Rumbek Airport is the main airport serving Rumbek, the capital of Lakes State in central South Sudan. It is a domestic, civilian airport operated under the South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority and is used by national airlines and air charter services.

Located close to Rumbek town centre, the airport sits at an elevation of about 420 metres above sea level and operates a single unpaved runway designated 01/19, roughly 1,330 metres long. Passenger services are handled in one small terminal building; a new terminal and toilet facilities were handed over in 2020.

The airport mainly connects Rumbek with Juba, around 302 kilometres to the southeast by air, and with other parts of the country through scheduled and charter flights. Ground transport between the airport and Rumbek is short, with the town centre about 1–2 kilometres away and reachable by local vehicle or pre-arranged transfer.

Because it is a small regional airport, facilities are limited to a basic waiting area and toilets, with little in the way of shopping or dining. Passengers should plan ahead, though the airport does provide security screening, ground handling, refuelling and fire services to support daily operations.
