About Rota Naval Station Airport

Rota Naval Station Airport is the military airfield at Naval Station Rota, a joint Spanish and U.S. naval base in Cádiz province on Spain's southwestern Atlantic coast. The base was established following a 1953 agreement between the United States and Spain, with construction beginning in 1955 and the facility opening in 1958.

The airport supports military aviation and authorized passenger movements through a single air terminal operated by the U.S. Navy. Its main runway, 10/28, measures about 3,690 metres and handles military and support flights, while aircraft parking is organized between U.S. and Spanish operational areas.

Located about 2 km northeast of central Rota, the airport sits within a base that also includes a major seaport. Rota is reached by a short road journey, while Cádiz lies roughly 14 km away in a straight line and about 38 km by road; Jerez de la Frontera and the wider Costa de la Luz are also within reach.

Passenger facilities are limited to the air terminal and on-base amenities such as a cafeteria, dining options, and recreational and fitness services for eligible personnel. Because the airport is part of an active military installation, access and travel arrangements are generally reserved for authorized personnel and official visitors.
