About Rolpa Airport
Rolpa Airport is a domestic airfield in Bodachaur, Rolpa District, Lumbini Province, Nepal. It opened on 6 November 1980 and was intended to connect this remote hill district with the rest of the country, but the airport is currently not in operation.
The airport sits at an elevation of about 1,250 metres (4,100 feet) and has a single earthen runway measuring 457 by 30 metres with orientation 06/24. It is managed by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal.
Liwang, the district headquarters, lies roughly 12 km to the west, while Bhalubang is about 80 km to the south and is often reached by road in around two hours. Because there are no scheduled flights at present, road travel is the main way to move through the district.
Rolpa Airport could be reactivated only with authorization from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal. Until then, travelers and local residents rely on the district road network and the nearest operational airports in the wider region, including Nepalgunj Airport and Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa.
