About Tikapur Airport
Tikapur Airport is a small domestic airport serving Tikapur Municipality and Kailali District in Sudurpashchim Province, far-western Nepal. The airport originally opened on 11 October 1984, but regular flights stopped in 1997; commercial services resumed in December 2024, restoring an air link to the area.
Located about 2.5 km southeast of Tikapur town centre, the airport operates a single gravel runway and a compact terminal designed for small aircraft such as the DHC-6 Twin Otter. Because the runway is unpaved, scheduled flights are limited and generally operate during the winter season.
The airport provides a useful alternative to long road journeys for passengers connecting through Nepalgunj to Kathmandu. From the airport, travelers can continue to Tikapur, Dhangadhi, Bhimdatta and destinations near the Karnali River by taxi, private transfer or local road transport.
