RAFO Masirah is a joint civil-military airport on Masirah Island, off Oman's eastern coast in the Arabian Sea. Operated by the Royal Air Force of Oman, it combines a military airfield with a small passenger terminal and serves as the island's main air link to the mainland.
The airfield has two asphalt runways and handles limited scheduled passenger traffic, with SalamAir operating flights between Masirah and Muscat and some services to Duqm. Its military history dates back to a Second World War staging post, and it later became an important base for the Royal Air Force of Oman.
The airport is situated on the northern part of Masirah Island, around 44 km from the main town of Hilf, a drive of roughly 45–60 minutes. Onward travel is typically by private transfer, taxi, or rental car, while a ferry links the island to Shannah Port on the mainland.
Passenger facilities are limited, so travelers should plan ahead. The airport nevertheless provides a practical gateway for reaching Masirah Island's beaches, turtle-watching areas, kite-surfing spots and coastal camps.
