Port-de-Paix Airport (PAX)

Port-de-Paix Airport is a small regional airfield serving Port-de-Paix, the capital of Haiti's Nord-Ouest department on the country's north coast. It functions primarily as a domestic gateway for the city and the surrounding coastal region, with the IATA code PAX and ICAO code MTPX.

The airport lies just outside the city centre, roughly 2 km from central Port-de-Paix, making it one of the most convenient arrival points for the area. It provides a much shorter alternative to the long and often difficult road journeys from Cap-Haïtien or Port-au-Prince, especially for travelers heading to the town's maritime port and onward boat connections to Tortuga Island.

Passenger infrastructure is compact and basic, with a single terminal building, simple check-in counters and a small waiting area. The runway is unpaved, and scheduled services can be limited or subject to change, so travelers should confirm flight status with the operating carrier before departure.

Ground transportation is informal but practical: local taxis and shared tap-tap vehicles connect the airport with the city centre, hotels and the port. Facilities at the airport are minimal, so visitors are advised to bring cash and any food or water they may need, and to arrange onward transport in advance when possible.
