Cap-Haïtien International Airport is the main international airport serving Cap-Haïtien and the surrounding Nord department in northern Haiti. It is the second-largest airport in the country and, together with Port-au-Prince, one of Haiti's principal gateways for international air travel.
The airport lies a short distance southeast of central Cap-Haïtien and handles domestic flights as well as international services to destinations in the Caribbean and the United States. Renamed Hugo Chávez International Airport in 2013, it remains widely known as Cap-Haïtien International Airport, and its single terminal brings check-in, security, arrivals and passenger facilities together in one compact area.
The airport serves as an access point for northern Haiti's historic and coastal destinations, including the Citadelle Laferrière, Sans-Souci Palace, Labadee and Cormier Plage. Taxis, private transfers, chauffeur services and car rental connect the airport with the city and the wider region.
