About Pokhara International Airport
Pokhara International Airport is the main airport serving Pokhara and the wider Gandaki Province in Nepal. Opened on 1 January 2023, it took over regular commercial operations from the old Pokhara Airport and became Nepal's third international airport, functioning as the principal gateway to the Annapurna region.
Located at Chhine Danda about 3–4 km east of Lakeside, the main tourist area along Phewa Lake, the airport handles frequent domestic flights to Kathmandu, Jomsom and other Nepali destinations, alongside a small number of international services. Its infrastructure includes separate international and domestic terminal buildings arranged around a 2,500-metre runway.
The airport is connected to Pokhara by taxis, ride-hailing services, hotel pickups and pre-arranged transfers, with the drive to Lakeside and the city centre typically taking around 10–20 minutes depending on traffic. There is no direct public bus from the terminal, although local buses pass on the nearby main road.
With compact but modern facilities including cafés, shops, Wi-Fi, ATMs, currency exchange and a lounge, the airport serves both leisure travellers heading to trekking routes in the Annapurnas and domestic business and regional traffic.
