Placeres Airport (BUV)

Placeres Airport is the local airfield serving Bella Unión, a city on the eastern bank of the Uruguay River in the Artigas Department of northern Uruguay. It sits close to the tri-border area where Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil meet, giving it a small but practical role for regional and private aviation.

The airfield is located about 7 km south-southeast of the city centre and has a single grass runway used mainly for daylight, visual flight rules operations. Passenger services are limited to charter, private and occasional regional flights, with no regular scheduled commercial network.

On the ground, the airport connects to Bella Unión by road, with taxis, private transfers and rental cars the most common ways to complete the short journey into town. Across the river, the Argentine city of Monte Caseros and other northern destinations are also reachable for onward travel.

Because Bella Unión is a centre of sugarcane and agro-industrial activity in northern Uruguay, the airfield also supports light cargo, technical and logistical flights for the region. Facilities at the airport are basic, so travellers should plan transfers and any required services in advance.
