Petropavl International Airport is the main airport serving Petropavl and the North Kazakhstan Region, close to Kazakhstan's northern border with Russia. Opened in 1974, the airport has become the city's principal point of entry for air travel.
Located about 11 km south of central Petropavl, the airport operates a single passenger terminal and a 2,801-metre asphalt and concrete runway capable of handling medium-sized aircraft such as the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 families. It supports regular domestic services, including flights to Astana and Almaty, as well as international charter operations.
Between 2014 and 2017, the airport underwent reconstruction covering the passenger terminal, runway extension, apron and lighting system, improving facilities for travellers.
