Payerne Airport is a joint civil and military airfield located in Payerne, in western Switzerland. It serves as the main base of the Swiss Air Force and has also been open to civil aviation since 2013, making it one of the country's key points of access for private and business flights.
The airport sits about 3 km from the centre of Payerne, in the Broye region spanning the cantons of Vaud and Fribourg. Its single 2,800-metre runway can accommodate everything from light jets to large long-range business aircraft, while the absence of scheduled commercial traffic allows for fast, discreet turnarounds.
The civil terminal was inaugurated in 2019 and houses a VIP passenger terminal, business jet hangars, a crew lounge, offices and conference rooms. Ground handling is provided by Speedwings Business SA, with customs and immigration available on-site for international flights.
Located around five minutes from the A1 motorway, the airport is well positioned for onward travel to Payerne, Lausanne, Bern and the Lake Geneva region by private transfer, chauffeur service, rental car or helicopter.
