About Lugano Airport
Lugano Airport is the regional airport serving Lugano and the Ticino region in southern Switzerland. Also known as Lugano-Agno, it sits about 6 km west of the city centre in the municipality of Agno and functions as a convenient city airport for regional, private and business aviation.
The airport's current location dates back to 1938, when it opened as a grass field, and its first paved runway was laid in 1960. Today it operates a single passenger terminal with check-in, security and customs facilities, alongside a 1,420-metre asphalt runway suited to smaller commercial and private aircraft.
Lugano Airport is closely connected to the city: taxis and private transfers reach the centre in about 15 minutes, the Lugano–Ponte Tresa railway stops at Agno with a short walk to the terminal, and the A2 motorway links the airport to Lugano, Locarno, Bellinzona and the Italian border.
With parking close to the terminal, a departure lounge, restaurant and bar, duty-free shopping and other passenger services, the airport offers a compact and efficient travel experience for visitors arriving in the Lugano area.
