About Parnaíba-Prefeito Dr. João Silva Filho International Airport
Parnaíba-Prefeito Dr. João Silva Filho International Airport serves the city of Parnaíba and the coastal region of Piauí in northeastern Brazil. Inaugurated in October 1971, it functions as a regional gateway for domestic travel and has been authorized for international passenger services since 2005.
Located about 8 km from central Parnaíba, the airport sits close to the Parnaíba Delta and provides convenient access to beach destinations such as Luís Correia. A modernization program completed in 2025 upgraded the terminal, boarding and arrivals areas, the access road and parking, while adding new commercial and passenger facilities.
The airport is connected to Parnaíba and the surrounding coast by road, with taxis, private transfers, chauffeur services and car rental available for onward travel. Public transport options are limited, so pre-arranged or private transport is often the most practical choice.
With a single modernized passenger terminal, dining and shopping areas, parking and passenger services, the airport serves both leisure and business travellers exploring the Piauí coast and the nearby Parnaíba Delta region.
