Palma de Mallorca Airport is the main international airport serving Palma and the island of Mallorca in the Balearic Islands. Opened to domestic and international traffic in July 1960, it grew from the former Son Sant Joan air base into one of Spain's busiest airports, handling scheduled and seasonal leisure flights to the island's many resorts.
Located about 8 km east of central Palma, near the Can Pastilla area, the airport connects Mallorca with domestic Spanish cities and a wide range of European destinations.
