Oulu Airport is the main airport serving Oulu and the Northern Ostrobothnia region. Operated by Finavia, it opened in 1953 in Oulunsalo and has since been expanded in stages, with a major terminal extension completed in September 2011. Today it handles domestic and international flights from a single passenger terminal.
