About Osaka International Airport

Osaka International Airport, commonly known as Itami Airport, is the main domestic airport serving Osaka and the wider Kansai region. Opened in 1939, it became western Japan's primary gateway before international flights were transferred to Kansai International Airport in 1994, and today it operates almost exclusively domestic services to cities across Japan.

Located about 15 km north of central Osaka and spanning the cities of Itami, Toyonaka and Ikeda, the airport offers quick access to Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe and Nara. Its compact terminal is organized into North, Central and South sections, with Japan Airlines group airlines concentrated in the north and ANA group airlines in the south.

The airport is connected to the region by the Osaka Monorail, airport limousine buses, taxis, private transfers and rental cars, making onward travel to central Osaka and surrounding destinations relatively straightforward.

With restaurants, cafés, shops, lounges, free Wi-Fi and an observation deck, the airport provides a practical and efficient domestic gateway for business travelers and visitors exploring the Kansai region.
