About Oki Global Geopark Airport
Oki Global Geopark Airport is the only airport serving the Oki Islands, an island group in the Sea of Japan that forms part of Shimane Prefecture. Located on Dōgo Island, it links the islands with mainland Japan through scheduled domestic flights.
The airport first opened in 1965, and a new airport on adjacent land came into use in 2006. It has a single passenger terminal and a 2,000-metre runway, with Japan Air Commuter flights connecting the islands to Osaka Itami and Izumo.
The airport sits about three kilometres south of the centre of Okinoshima, the main town on Dōgo Island. Local buses, taxis and rental cars provide onward travel to Okinoshima, Saigō Port and ferry connections serving the smaller Oki islands.
With a compact terminal, a shop, waiting areas and a rooftop observation deck, the airport offers a convenient arrival point for travelers exploring the Oki Islands UNESCO Global Geopark.
