About Lago Agrio Airport
Lago Agrio Airport is the main airport serving Nueva Loja, the capital of Sucumbíos Province in Ecuador's northern Amazon region. Also known as Nueva Loja Airport, it connects the city with domestic destinations and supports travel for residents, oil industry workers, business travellers and visitors heading to the surrounding rainforest.
The airport's current terminal was remodelled and reopened on January 12, 2010. It is designed with a single passenger terminal and a capacity of about 150,000 passengers per year, with airline counters, restaurants, security points and a medical service available on site.
Located approximately 3 km east of the Nueva Loja city centre, the airport is reached quickly by taxi or pre-arranged private transfer. Its single asphalt runway is about 2,307 m long, and the airport operates during daylight hours.
Although compact, the airport provides a practical entry point for journeys to Lago Agrio, nearby jungle lodges and communities across Sucumbíos, with ground transportation continuing by road from the terminal.
