Located about 7 km west of the Cametá city centre, the airport has a single asphalt runway of approximately 1,219 metres and a compact passenger terminal. It primarily supports regional and smaller aircraft operations, linking Cametá with other destinations in Pará and northern Brazil.
The airport site was established as a new aerodrome for the municipality, replacing the older landing field, and was named Major Max Parijós by state legislation. Its location near the main road access to the city makes it a practical point for onward travel by car, taxi or local transport.
