Nanyang Jiangying Airport is the main airport serving Nanyang in southwestern Henan Province. It opened in 1992 as the relocation of the city's earlier airfield and now operates as a 4D-class domestic regional airport and a China Southern Airlines flight training base.
Located in Wancheng District, about 8 km east of the Nanyang city center, the airport links the city with domestic destinations such as Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Beijing and many other cities. Its current passenger terminal opened in 2009 and uses a compact one-and-a-half-level layout, with check-in, arrivals and baggage facilities on the ground floor and the waiting area on the upper level.
The airport is connected to the city by public buses, taxis and road links, with bus services running to Nanyang Railway Station and onward connections available from there. A terminal expansion program is underway to increase capacity and improve the passenger experience.
