Nan Nakhon Airport is the main airport serving Nan city and Nan province in Northern Thailand. Opened in 1980 and operated by the Department of Airports, it is a compact regional airport that connects the province with Bangkok.
A new passenger terminal opened in February 2015, replacing the older terminal while keeping the existing runway. The airport has a single runway and one passenger terminal, handling scheduled domestic flights operated mainly by Nok Air and Thai AirAsia.
The airport sits about 3 km north of Nan city centre in Pha Sing subdistrict, Mueang Nan district. Taxis, hotel shuttles and local transport make the short journey into town relatively quick, and road access supports onward travel to districts such as Pua and Bo Kluea.
Although small, the airport provides a convenient entry point for travellers visiting Nan's temples, mountain scenery and surrounding districts, with basic passenger facilities and onward travel options available.
