About Mucugê Airport
Mucugê Airport is a small municipal airport serving the town of Mucugê and the Chapada Diamantina National Park in Bahia, Brazil. It functions as a regional access point for visitors travelling to one of Brazil's best-known natural tourism areas, alongside the larger road and air connections through cities such as Lençóis and Salvador.
The airport lies about 11 km from the centre of Mucugê, near the BA-142 highway, and has a single asphalt runway of 1,400 metres. In 2025, a renovation delivered by the Bahia state government included the complete recovery of the runway, the construction of a new passenger reception building and the requalification of the access interchange to the terminal.
Since April 2021, Mucugê has been connected to Salvador International Airport by two weekly flights, supporting regional air connectivity and access to the Chapada Diamantina. Operations remain limited, and many travellers also arrive by road or through nearby airports.
For onward travel, the airport connects to Mucugê and surrounding destinations by taxi, private transfer, rental car and group transport. From the town, visitors can reach attractions across the Chapada Diamantina, including Igatu, Ibicoara and other natural sites in the region.
