About Mörön Airport
Mörön Airport is the main air gateway to Khövsgöl Province in northern Mongolia and serves the provincial capital of Mörön. During the summer season it is one of the busiest airports outside Ulaanbaatar, with travellers arriving for trips to Lake Khövsgöl and the surrounding countryside.
The airport lies about 5 km northwest of the Mörön town centre and has a single asphalt runway of roughly 2,440 metres and a compact passenger terminal. Domestic flights connect Mörön with Ulaanbaatar through carriers such as MIAT Mongolian Airlines, Hunnu Air and Air Central.
After years as a domestic-only airport, Mörön Airport received its first international service in July 2025, when Hunnu Air launched flights from Cheongju in South Korea. This has widened access to northern Mongolia for international visitors.
From the terminal, travellers can reach central Mörön in about 10 to 15 minutes by car or taxi and continue overland toward Khatgal, Lake Khövsgöl and other destinations in the province. The airport's compact layout makes check-in, arrivals and onward travel relatively straightforward.
