About Donoi Airport
Donoi Airport is the main airport serving Uliastai, the capital of Zavkhan Province in western Mongolia. The airport connects this regional centre with Ulaanbaatar and is the primary gateway for domestic air travel to the Zavkhan region.
Opened in 2002 as New Uliastai Airport, it replaced the city's older airfield. A paved runway, landing area and drainage system were completed in 2019 to improve capacity, and the airport now operates a single runway and a compact passenger terminal.
Located about 24 km west of Uliastai, the airport is reached by taxi, private transfer or pre-arranged vehicle along the road into the city, with travel typically taking around 40 to 45 minutes.
Although facilities are limited, the airport provides essential domestic connections for residents and visitors travelling between Ulaanbaatar and the Zavkhan area.
