Monastir Habib Bourguiba International Airport is the main airport serving Monastir and the wider Tunisian Sahel region, one of Tunisia's most important coastal tourism areas. It handles both scheduled and seasonal charter flights and is a key arrival point for visitors heading to Monastir, Sousse, Port El Kantaoui and Mahdia.
The airport began operations in 1968 and was managed by the Office of Civil Aviation and Airports before TAV Airports took over operations in January 2008. It is named after former President Habib Bourguiba, who was born in Monastir, and has a passenger capacity of around 3.5 million per year.
Located about 9 km west of central Monastir, the airport is within easy reach of the Skanes hotel area and around 25 km from Sousse. Travelers can continue their journey by taxi, private transfer, rental car, or the nearby rail link, which connects the airport area with Sousse and other towns along the coast.
