The airport was completed as a greenfield project after a rapid construction period. Its modern terminal building covers about 130,000 square metres with an annual capacity of around seven million passengers and space for future expansion, supported by a single runway and a distinctive control tower.
Located roughly 100 kilometres south of Tunis and close to the A1 motorway, the airport sits between major coastal resorts. Travellers can continue to Hammamet, Sousse, Monastir, Nabeul and other destinations by pre-booked transfer, taxi, tour-operator coach or rental car, as there is no direct rail link at the terminal.
