About Minna Airport
Minna Airport is the main airport serving Minna, the capital of Niger State, and the wider north-central Nigeria region. It was commissioned on 20 June 1990 and is located about 10 km northwest of the city centre in the Maikunkele area of Bosso Local Government Area.
The airport underwent major redevelopment after Niger State took over its remodelling, and it was renamed Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport when it was inaugurated in March 2024. Works included a new domestic terminal, a completed Hajj terminal and runway upgrades, with cargo and international terminal facilities under development.
Scheduled commercial flights resumed in April 2025, when Overland Airways began operating services between Minna, Abuja and Lagos. The airport mainly handles domestic flights, while the Hajj terminal supports pilgrimage operations during the Hajj season.
Travellers can reach central Minna by taxi or private road transport, and the airport provides a convenient alternative gateway for the Abuja region and surrounding parts of north-central Nigeria.
