Lemnos International Airport, also known as Hephaestus Airport, is the main airport serving Lemnos island and the town of Myrina in Greece’s North Aegean region. It began operation in 1959 and has a long association with the Hellenic Air Force, sharing its 3,016-metre runway with a military base.
The airport operates from a single modern passenger terminal inaugurated in 2001. It mainly handles domestic flights to Athens and Thessaloniki, together with seasonal charter and international services, making it a practical gateway for both island residents and visitors.
Located about 18 km from Myrina, the airport is connected to the capital and other island villages by taxi, local bus services and rental cars, with travel times to Myrina normally around 20–25 minutes.
Passenger facilities include a café, duty-free shopping, ATMs, an information desk and parking, while onward ferry connections from Myrina provide access to nearby islands such as Agios Efstratios.
