About Liangping Airport
Liangping Airport is a general aviation airport serving Liangping District in northeastern Chongqing Municipality. First opened in 1928 as Liangshan Airport, it was Chongqing's first airport and later served as a Flying Tigers base during the Second World War.
The airport was renamed Liangping Airport in 1967 and handled civil flights from 1988 until 2003, when scheduled commercial services moved to Wanzhou Wuqiao Airport. After restoration work, it was reopened as Chongqing Liangping Airport in 2020 as a military-civilian A1 general aviation airport.
The airport has a 2,300-metre runway and aprons for fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters, supporting emergency rescue, flight training, low-altitude sightseeing and other general aviation activities. In December 2024 it launched short-haul passenger routes to Dazhou and Beichuan.
Located about 1 km from Liangping town centre and roughly 180 km from Chongqing's main urban area, the airport is reached by road, taxi or private transfer, making onward travel within Liangping and the surrounding region straightforward.
