About Lanping Fenghua General Airport
Lanping Fenghua General Airport is a general aviation airport serving Lanping Bai and Pumi Autonomous County and the wider Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture in western Yunnan. It is the first airport to open in Nujiang Prefecture and the first A1-class high-altitude general airport completed in Yunnan, providing an important air link for a mountainous region with limited overland connections.
Construction began in January 2018 and the airport opened on 30 December 2019 after passing industry acceptance earlier that month. Built around a single terminal area with a comprehensive operations building and control tower, the facility has a 2B-class flight area and sits at an elevation above 2,400 metres, making it suited to high-altitude general aviation operations.
The airport lies in Tongdian Town, about 38 km from the county seat of Lanping. Road links connect the airport to Lanping town and surrounding communities, and scheduled flights have connected Lanping with Kunming, shortening what is otherwise a long overland journey through western Yunnan.
As a compact regional gateway, the airport offers essential passenger services and waiting areas within its terminal, supporting access to the Nujiang region and onward travel through Yunnan.
