The seaplane base lies approximately 4 km from the town of Ampara, on the Ampara–Inginiyagala main road. Because it is a water-based landing area rather than a conventional airport, operations are focused on seaplane arrivals and departures using the reservoir.
Onward travel from the seaplane base is primarily by road, with taxis, private transfers and rental cars available for the short journey into Ampara and for longer trips across the Eastern Province.
The compact facility keeps passenger handling simple, and travelers can find accommodation, dining and other services in Ampara town and surrounding areas.
